Schiphol ↔ Assen Shuttle & Travel Information
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is the most common entry point for our international guests. For some European routes, it is also possible to fly directly to Groningen Airport, which is about 15 minutes from Assen. Please note: we offer official festival transport from Amsterdam Schiphol only.
Book Shuttle Ticket
Airport transport is provided by our official transport partner Drenthe Tours, together with the Dutch Open team. We operate direct shuttle buses between Amsterdam Schiphol and Assen at fixed times.
Travel time by shuttle bus is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on traffic. Shuttle buses run at fixed times, and the Schiphol → Assen departure times are shown during online booking.
Please go to the Central Meeting Point in the central hall 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
At Schiphol, this meeting point is close to Burger King, between entrance platforms 3/4 and 5/6. At departure time, a member of our team will guide you to the shuttle bus for direct transport to Assen.
Return transport is only available if a shuttle ticket has been purchased, either online in advance or at the service desk in Assen. Seats for the return journey must be reserved in Assen at least 24 hours before departure. From Thursday onwards, our transportation officer will be available at the hotel or service desk to assist you with planning and reserving your return trip.
Please note that traffic towards Schiphol Airport can be busy on Monday mornings. We therefore strongly advise choosing a bus departure time 5 to 6 hours before your flight departure, to allow sufficient travel time and reduce the risk of delays due to traffic.
You can travel by train from Schiphol Airport to Assen Central Station and back. You can plan your trip online using a public transport planner (available in English). De Bonte Wever is about a 20-minute walk from the station.
